Songs About Polyamory

Long before now, polyamorous relationships and marriages were thought to be impossible and not feasible. However, time has again presented us with the possibility of being in a romantic relationship with multiple people.

Although polyamorous relationships are rare compared to other forms of relationships out there, they’re workable and confidential just like other forms. Most of the fears that surround polyamorous relationships are the fear of being attracted to one more than the other and trust issues.

Despite this, research has shown that polyamorous relationships may be equally as effective as other forms of relationships when they are founded on love and mutual comprehension.

Therefore, if you’re in a polyamorous relationship or you’re considering going into one, this is for you. In the following paragraphs, we’ll examine some songs about polyamory. Enjoy!

5 Songs about Polyamory

1. “3” by Britney Spears

Britney Spears - 3 (Official HD Video)

Britney Spears seems to be pleading with her lover in the song “3” for them to engage in a threesome with her and another person. This is ostensibly so that they can increase the sexual excitement in their relationship. She makes an allusion to the well-known folk group “Peter, Paul, and Mary” as a way of explaining that the threesome will consist of herself, her partner, and another man.

She is apprehensive about how her partner will respond to her awkward suggestion, so she continues to question while simultaneously attempting to make the notion sound appealing to her lover.

She even goes so far as to describe it as “living in sin,” making a veiled reference to the feelings of guilt that it may bring while implying that it is the current fashion trend.

While maintaining that there will be no negative consequences, the singer makes her plea sound more enticing by employing a number of descriptive phrases. She tells him that if he is not comfortable with the idea, they can just continue to maintain their intimacy.

2. “Third Wheels” by Set If Off

The phrase “Third Wheel” refers to a person who is in the company of a couple, normally a friend of the pair, and who typically feels as though they are obstructing the couple in some way.

This song is for all of you third wheels out there, and we hope you enjoy it. A lot of us have fantasies about going on intimate dates and singing our hearts out with the person we love. However, what transpires when another partner joins in?

Even though Cody’s ex-girlfriend has found love with someone else, he continues to cherish her and longs for her to return to his life. He is prepared to take any action, including harming the man she is dating now, in the hopes that she will return to loving him. He has the impression that he was just shoved to the side and is now being disregarded altogether.

3. “Someone New” by Hozier

Hozier - Someone New

This song is about a man who is reminding his lover that he made it clear from the beginning that he wasn’t the type who could be emotionally tied to one person. That is he would always have an eye for other ladies. This was because he doesn’t necessarily want to go into love affairs with them but to satisfy his sexual urge.

The song comes from the perspective of a reminder. From the lyrics, it’s clear that he wants to maintain his current relationship with his lover but at the same time, he wants the freedom to engage in sexual affairs with other ladies.

The narrator tries to justify this situation that he’s always been that way in the part and that’s who he really is. Hozier is known for many things and this is one of his best songs out there. The song starts with the cello which sends an enchanting tone and his warm voice follows.

4. “Fell In Love With a Girl” by Jack White

The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl (Official Music Video)

It is about a boy who falls in love with a girl and devotes all of his affection to her, but she does not reciprocate his feelings in the same way that he would like her to.

The young woman is just interested in living her life to the fullest and has no desire to enter into a romantic partnership. This adolescent woman enjoys playing mind games with male peers and does not give any thought to the consequences of her behaviour.

As a result, she leaves behind shattered relationships and broken hearts as she moves forward in life. Consequently, the difference between genuine love and lust is the subject of this song’s lyrics. Jack White sings about how we have no power to change these feelings and how easily a single person can be in multiple relationships.

5.  Clash ` “Should I Stay or Should I Go”

The Clash - Should I Stay or Should I Go (Official Video)

Last on our list of songs about polyamory is Clash ` “Should I Stay or Should I Go”. After giving the words to the song a lot of thought and consideration, I have come to the conclusion that the narrator is in an unhealthy relationship and needs to get out of it.

This already toxic relationship is made worse by the singer’s possessive and demanding behaviour toward their spouse. It is very evident that the partner is not really dedicated to this relationship, and it appears that the partner finds joy only when the singer is experiencing difficulties.

The singer is unable to wrap their head around the idea that they are being used, but they are starting to see that their spouse is not as invested in this relationship as they are.

When the vocalist comes to the conclusion that he will be happier away from the addressee. He realises that continuing in an unhealthy relationship will create even more difficulty and uncertainty than leaving a relationship might do, so he makes the decision to end the relationship even though it will be tough and uncertain for him to do so.

It is best for the singer to stop this relationship so that he can concentrate on overcoming his personal difficulties with codependency and possessiveness before getting involved in another romantic partnership.
