Songs With ‘Butterfly’ In The Title

Butterflies are very beautiful creatures, so when we hear about a song with the word ‘butterfly’ in the title, we assume it is a beautiful song, or even about love. But that is not always the case. Just like bugs, butterflies can be used metaphorically, so you’d have to keep an open mind because you don’t exactly know what to expect.

1. “Butterfly” by Crazy Town

Crazy Town - Butterfly (Official Video)

Crazy Town’s “Butterfly” is almost certainly going to be the first song that comes to anyone’s mind when they are asked to mention songs with buterfly in the title.

“Butterfly” is a love song. Shifty Shellshock, the lead vocalist of Crazy Town, sent this letter to his (then) lover, and although she is not named, she is the intended recipient. Since she was tired of his rock star antics, she was the one who gave him the idea for the song. In response, he wrote a song called “Butterfly” which was all about a girl. The fact that she collected butterflies may explain why Shellshock referred to her as his “butterfly.”

But don’t let the title fool you; this isn’t a sweet love tune fit for the whole family. The musician admits that the object of his affection’s sensual allure is one of the things he loves most about her. And at times, he deliberately goes out of his way to be overly precise.

You might say that Crazy Town held to its roots despite breaking from its usual sound by releasing a love track (which is now considered it’s signature song). Accordingly, the singer makes clear that the presence of his beloved has had a tremendous, elevating effect on his life, establishing the song’s status as a love ballad.

On the other hand, there’s a poetic shock aspect, particularly of the sensuous sort, that’s better suited to older audiences.

2. “Elusive Butterfly” by Bob Lind

Bob Lind - Elusive Butterfly (1965) 4K

Existentialism is central to Bob Lind’s interpretation of “Elusive Butterfly,” he has said. The idea that the journey toward our life’s goal, if you will, can be more rewarding than the achievement of that goal itself, is what this all boils down to. The process, as some adages put it, is more important than the final product.

He is the one who is looking for “the bright elusive butterfly of love,” as represented in the song’s lyrics. However, when our aspirations, as individual listeners, are taken into account, the figure Lind is portraying becomes a metaphor for us. This explains, for example, why the narrator appears to be prancing “softly” while traversing “the gorge of our imaginations.”

In addition, Bob appears to be arguing that we should not be scared to dream and to act on our aspirations. In any case, he doesn’t sound like he’s talking about money or anything like that, what with this song being released in the ’60s and all. What Lind seems to be referring to, instead, is allowing your imagination to guide your actions, like when he decided to pursue music instead of school.

To put it another way, we shouldn’t be too timid to go for our passions. The larger implication is that we shall develop into more lovable people as a result. Lyrically, “Elusive Butterfly” by Bob Lind is one of the best songs with butterfly in the title.

3. “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” by The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings

Let’s pretend the most logical interpretation is that this work was influenced by the Bible. This is not a case that Corgan and company are Christians or even particularly religious.

Instead, Billy’s pain has prompted him to think back on a few Biblical figures who were said to have experienced something similar. To put it another way, he has the prophetic perception that the entire planet is in a bad way for the majority of its inhabitants.

When it comes to such things (i.e., depression), however, he is not as optimistic or faithful as Job or Jesus. Instead, he views the collective human experience of pain as a given. As was stated previously, he thinks it takes root while we’re young and don’t have a firm grasp on what depression is.

Even with all of that in mind, the title doesn’t appear to play a role in the content of this essay. But the implication would be that life can be riskier than it seems. Dangerous not so much in terms of direct physical harm, but rather in terms of the morale-lowering and morale-eroding effects it can have.

4. “Happiness is a Butterfly” by Lana Del Rey

Happiness is a butterfly

This is one of the songs with butterfly in the title that reflects on a lot of things. “Happiness is a Butterfly” is about a less-than-ideal romantic relationship Lana is in. Despite this, she remains dedicated to her boyfriend and the union.

Several problems seem to exist in this scenario. To begin with, her lover’s feelings are all over the place. Second, he seems to have a soft spot for the ladies. Furthermore, given that the song’s lyrics include the line “weeping in the backseat,” it’s safe to assume that fights are a regular aspect of their relationship.

As they sing together, it sounds like they’ve been dating for a while, which might be used as a clue about how long they’ve been together. At other times, it seems as though she is referring to someone with whom she is just becoming acquainted. The singer may be alluding to more than one person or relationship in this tune.

Ultimately, Lana just wants to be happy in a romantic sense, and that’s what she’s saying. In the spirit of carefree fun, she expresses a desire to “simply dance” with her beloved. Still, she does concede that “happiness is a butterfly,” as the song’s title suggests. This is meant to be taken as a metaphor. As for what it’s trying to say, it’s primarily about how difficult it is to find love and how difficult it is to be happy.

It follows that the songwriter has been through her share of heartbreak to represent her as someone who can relate to the listener. Nonetheless, she keeps trying to find it, even in the simplest of ways (i.e., by dancing).

5. “Butterfly Doors” by Lil Pump

Lil Pump - Butterfly Doors [Official Music Video]

American rapper Lil Pump uses the great portion of “Butterfly Doors” to boast about his expensive possessions. He likes to boast primarily about his wealth and the high-end automobiles he drives. In the lyric, he boasts about his many butterfly-door Lamborghinis. Here, he is essentially informing his audience that his vehicles feature vertical doors.

It’s worth noting that many high-end sports cars have unusual door configurations. The vertical opening of the doors gives them an appearance reminiscent of butterfly wings. That’s why it’s called a butterfly door.
